Lego Robotics at Shiloh ASP!🤖 Yesterday our students began a six-week Lego robotics program we are offering in partnership with MJC's Community Ed./ STEM department. Please allow your ASP students to participate by attending on Wednesdays and throughout the week. As it is a class, attendance is essential to not miss ongoing instruction and project building.

Today 6th and 7th graders met to exchange stories. The same set of silly pictures were given to each class. The students wrote a story that was inspired by the picture. Today they met with the student in the other grade that had the matching picture. Some students were surprised to hear a completely different story from their partner, even though both students used the same photo!

Fun Friday at Shiloh ASP! Our upper-graders baked whoopie pies filled with green marshmallow fluff for St.Patrick's Day, we painted the birdhouses we've been working on and despite the weather a small group of us learned about and built a rocket we plan to launch after homework later today.

Today the 7th graders conducted an experiment with a chemical reaction. The students dropped an antacid tablet into a flask and covered it with a balloon. They were able to observe the chemical reaction, including the creation of carbon dioxide that filled the balloon.

Good Evening Shiloh Families, Another year will soon be at an end, becoming our memories of 2022. But before we look forward to the new adventures that 2023 will bring, on behalf of all of us at Shiloh School, I want to extend a heartfelt, “Thank You,” for all that you’ve done in 2022 to support Shiloh School. Thank You for your patience during difficult times and in being ready to return when we needed you most. Thank you for the appreciation you’ve shown. Thank you to everyone who made donations and purchases for our Spaghetti Dinner & Fall Carnival Night that helped to raise more than $8,000 for our student activity fund which has already sent students to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and The Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, with others scheduled for 2023! Lastly, thank you, for joining us for our Christmas Program for an enjoyable evening bringing holiday cheer. When we look out into the crowd and see so many former Shiloh students return to enjoy in the same moments with their children that they shared with their parents before them, moments that you have returned to share with all of us at Shiloh School, we want you to know that we appreciate you, too! Happy Holidays to all! May they be blessed with peace and happiness… …and Happy New Year! We’ll see you in 2023!

Good afternoon Shiloh Families, As we approach winter break and a new year, the after school program has begun the initial phases of restructuring the program. To provide you with information on the new schedule for academic support and enrichment activities, a new section has been added to the website and app which allows you to see exactly what students will be doing each day. These enrichment opportunities will take place after the academic period from 4:45-5:30 pm. Student who want to participate in the scheduled events will need to be picked up after 5:30pm each day as many of these experiences will include one-day only arts & crafts, events for ongoing lego or sports competitions, STEM projects and other exciting activities that they would miss if not attending on that day during the enrichment time. We hope that the ongoing posting of the schedule to the website will facilitate your planning and encourage students to stay and participate with their friends in the many fun upcoming plans scheduled after the academic support portion of the program. Our goal is to continue to continually improve what we can offer to the community and its students. If you have any questions or comments, please call or email; all feedback is appreciated and supports us in our decisions as we continually strive to make Shiloh a great school for everyone!

After the Thanksgiving Break, we are pleased to inform you that the after school program will again be open until 6pm on Wednesdays beginning on November 30 as we work to continue improving and adding opportunities for students. Thank you for your patience over the last several weeks as we worked to add staff and developed plans.

To support the growth of the program and continue its progress, we are asking for your support by allowing your children to remain in the program until 5pm so that students may participate. Many of the activities will include indoor and outdoor games which will have partners or teams which will require students consistently remaining in program until 5pm, Of course, if you have an appointment or alternative program that your child participates in outside of school, just communicate with ASP staff so that they are aware your child will not be able to participate in the activity hour from 4-5pm and they can plan accordingly.

Additionally, I am excited to inform you that we have been able to add some additional activity leaders to the program. The additional staff will allow us to address our goals of having the ability to accommodate more students who want to attend the program, creating smaller homework groups to support student academics and developing a more structured enrichment hour to provide students with a variety of activities.

Good Evening Shiloh Families, I’m excited to be sharing some great news with you. As you know, we shortened the Wednesday after school program hours to help them develop a plan to add enrichments and activities and create a more structured afternoon for students. Mr. Justin plans to use Wednesdays to bring in various programs for the students as he did last week by having a ceramist provide instruction in pottery. He is scheduling some other exciting opportunities as well. Additionally, I am excited to inform you that we have been able to add some additional activity leaders to the program.
